My Game Time Paradox
I’m a gamer. Hardcore one. Think top 5 realm WoW mythic raiding guild, or top 200 Act V PoE league start. At least I was until I got my first full-time work.
I’ve spent massive amount of time on games while I was studying in school and university. Now I spend at most 20% of previous time per week.
I don’t play competitive games no more, whilst before they were like 90% of my game time, but I still play cooperative games when possible.
Actually, there was a pretty long time when I’ve almost didn’t play any games, it started after my first job and continued for like 2 years. Then I came back renewed.
I was minmaxing the hell out of games: doing optimal builds, looking up strategies, reading walktroughs. The result drove me. Now I go into games blind, try not to read any guides at least before after first playthrough, and genuinely enjoy process.
This might be a case of “the less you have, the more you appreciate what you have”, but I doubt it. I think something shifted in my perception. And I like it.
